Speaker Profile:
Bo Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Honorary Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Tsinghua University. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Natural Sciences by the University of Hamburg, Germany in 2011, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the China Computer Federation (CCF) in 2014, the Highest Achievement Award of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award in 2019, and was selected as the Educator of the Year by China Newsweek in 2024.
He has long been engaged in the theoretical research of artificial intelligence, artificial neural networks and machine learning, as well as the applied technical research of pattern recognition, knowledge engineering and robotics. He has published more than 200 academic papers and 5 (chapters of) monographs in the above fields. His scientific research achievements have won awards such as the ICL European Artificial Intelligence Award. In addition, he is one of the founders of the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Technology and Systems, and served as the Director of the laboratory from 1990 to 1996.
