To strengthen the campus fire safety management, improve the emergency avoidance and self-rescue and mutual rescue capabilities of key places such as laboratories, and build a strong "firewall" for campus safety, the School of Computer Science and Information Engineering, School of Physics and School of Microelectronics jointly held a fire safety lecture, safety evacuation and on-site practical drill in the Emerald Lake Campus on the afternoon of October 14. Some person-in-charges of experimental centers, laboratory safety administrators and postgraduates from the three schools participated in the training and drill.
To ensure the smooth and efficient progress of the drill, the Security Department specially organized a coordination preparatory meeting on the morning of October 13, which detailed the overall process of the drill and clarified the responsibilities and division of labor of each participating unit, laying a solid foundation for the orderly development of the drill.
The activity was divided into two parts: a fire safety knowledge lecture and a practical drill. At the fire safety knowledge lecture, Teacher Pang from the Fire Protection Section of the Security Department explained the causes of fires, preventive measures, methods for fighting initial fires and key points of emergency evacuation and escape in a simple and in-depth way combined with the characteristics of universities through vivid cases, effectively enhancing the teachers and students' theoretical literacy of fire safety.

After the lecture, the intense and orderly practical drill started immediately. With the sound of the simulated fire alarm whistle, the practical drill officially kicked off. The scene was filled with simulated thick smoke, and the atmosphere was tense. Under the clear guidance and orderly command of volunteers and on-site teachers, the participating students responded quickly, remained calm, and evacuated to the safe area quickly and in an orderly manner in a low posture and bent over in strict accordance with the predetermined evacuation route. The whole process was closely connected and well-coordinated, completing the escape drill successfully.
After the evacuation, the activity entered the practical operation stage of fire extinguishers. Teacher Pang from the Security Department explained the structure and principle, usage steps and precautions of dry powder fire extinguishers on the spot. Everyone took part in the operation in person, aiming at the simulated fire source and spraying according to the usage steps of "lifting, pulling, holding and pressing", successfully putting out the "fire". The on-site organization was strict, the interaction was strong, and the atmosphere was warm.

This fire drill was well-organized, with compact links and a focus on practical results, effectively improving the emergency response, safety self-rescue and coordinated combat capabilities of teachers and students of the three schools in the face of sudden fires. The activity has laid a solid foundation for creating a safe and harmonious campus environment, achieved the expected results and was a complete success.
