Recently, the national finals of the 12th "Datang Cup" National School Students' New Generation Information and Communication Technology Competition came to a successful conclusion in Wuhan. As the first communication-related competition in the list of National School Students' Competitions by the Ministry of Education, the "Datang Cup" is one of the important competitions for the reform of higher education and teaching and the cultivation of innovative talents in 5G technology.

With the strong support of the university and the school, students of our university made active preparations for the competition, systematically studying and mastering the contents of courses such as Principles of Communication and Comprehensive Design of Communication Systems. Among nearly 60,000 teachers and students from more than 700 universities across the country participating in the national finals, Liu Kaiming and Wang Tianyu, students of the 2022 grade majoring in Electronic Information Engineering, stood out and won the national first prize (8th place in the country). This is also the first time that students of our university have won the first prize in the finals of this competition.

The 12th "Datang Cup" National School Students' New Generation Information and Communication Technology Competition is sponsored by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Communications Enterprise Association and CITIC Mobile Communications Technology Co., Ltd. It is one of the most authoritative and influential national academic competitions in the field of information and communication in China, and is included in the competition catalogue of the Analysis Report on National School Students' Competitions released by the Chinese Society of Higher Education. Focusing on the frontiers of information and communication technology, the competition aims to improve students' professional theoretical literacy, engineering thinking ability and industry application innovation level, cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents meeting industrial needs, promote the construction of "Double First-Class" and "Double High-Level" universities, advance the reform and innovation of teaching contents and methods for electronic information-related majors, enhance the research and achievement transformation of 5G and 6G technologies and related professional technologies in universities, drive the innovation of 5G+ vertical industry applications, and boost the high-quality development of electronic information majors.
